Greatest Shot Ever

Was the greatest golf shot ever Jack Nicklaus's 1 iron on No. 17 at the 1972 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach or Tom Watson's chip in on the same hole for the U.S. Open title to beat out Jack a few years later?  Or was it Tiger Wood's chip in on No. 16 at the Masters from the back of the green?  Or was it Tiger's 220 yard 6 iron from the trap over a lake to the back of the green (I forgot the hole No.) in the Canadian Open?  Or Gene Sarazen's double eagle at the Masters?

There is some room for debate but those four are, I would assert, in the top 5.  Another one for the level of pure clutch was Tiger Woods career making putt on No. 17 at Medinah in the 1999 PGA to beat out Sergio Garcia.  Lots of folks forget how tough that putt was - 15 breaking right and downhill.  Best clutch putt I have ever seen.  It was comparable to Michael Jordan's shot from the corner as a freshman at UNC when UNC won the NCAA finals against Georgetown.  Career defining.

McIlroy's Golf Swing: The Best in History?

The new U.S. Open Champion, Rory McIlroy, has the best golf swing in history. Why? His tempo is wonderful, but that is not it. More importantly is the fact that his hips LEAD his downswing in a dominating manner, and his hips clear the impact zone better than any golfer in history. Think about Fred Couples with a perfect swing plane! If Ben Hogan were alive today, he would agree. Jack Nicklaus has said as much already.

You can achieve this effect, too, by learning the secrets of the Hip to Hip Method of swinging the golf club. Find out about it by going to the book link on this page to the right, and buy your copy of "Breakthrough in Golf" today!

Open your hips at impact, and break 80!  Its time to get it done!

Making a Fuller Shoulder Turn

Would you like to make a fuller shoulder turn on your backswing, which will most definitely generate more power in your golf swing? Instead of hitting balls trying to do so, the best way to achieve a full shoulder turn is by doing isometric shoulder turn stretching exercises. They can be found in the illustrations in "Breakthrough in Golf" linked in the right margin of this blog site.

Railroad Tracks

Use "Railroad Tracks" to perfect your golf swing alignment once and for all. At the range, place a golf club on either side of the ball parallel to the target line, and line your feet up totally parallel to those tracks. If you do that you will NEVER again have set up or alignment problems. For a fuller explanation, including how to use a 3rd club for more precise alignment, go to the book link on the right. You should never hit practice balls without using this technique.

Get Perfect Golf Swing Tempo

Is your golf swing tempo infallable, or virtually perfect? It should be. Because there is a proven technique for you to accquire it instantly!

Several years ago a statistical study was conducted with LPGA Tour players on tempo. The elapsed swing times for the players who hit the most greens in regulation were measured. Swing speeds varied, and elapsed times did too - most swings lasted from start to impact about 1.5 to 1.9 seconds. But what was found to be mathematically common to every single top greens in regulation player was the ratio of backswing elapsed time to downswing time. And it was invariably 3:1. So instantly and immediately, if you want your perfect tempo, no matter how fast or slow you want to swing, count to 3 going back to the top of your backswing and 4 on your downswing. It is that amazingly simple as a proven technique. And it will show immediate results for you! Give it a try and see if you can't master your golf swing tempo!
